For QACs and LSAs.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra security step when users log in: after entering their password, they confirm it's them by clicking a link sent to their email address.
MFA is an optional add-on. For pricing, or to have it switched on, email support@ecordia.co.uk.
Choosing who uses MFA
The MFA settings only appear in Centre Settings once your centre has bought the add-on. When we switch MFA on, it starts as Off for everyone. To set it for each role:
- Go to More > My Centre > Manage, and choose Centre Settings.
- For each role, choose Mandatory, Optional or Off.
- Click Update.
Users with more than one role
| If any of the user's roles are… | Then… |
|---|---|
| Mandatory | MFA is always on. They can't see or turn it off in their preferences. |
| Optional (and none are Mandatory) | They can turn MFA on or off on their preferences page. |
| All Off | They don't see the MFA option in their preferences. |
What users see when they log in
When MFA is on for a user, after they log in successfully they'll see a 2-Step Verification message. It says a verification link has been sent to their email address, showing the start and end of the address.
They need to click the link in the email to finish logging in. The link expires after about 60 minutes.
No email address? Users without one are asked to add one the next time they log in.
