You can change how Ecordia looks and how it keeps you updated, using the settings on your My Account page. These settings only affect your own account.
Changing your preferences
- Click My Account in the menu.
- Make your changes.
- Click Update Account to save them.
Your email address
Ecordia uses your email address to send you notifications, password reset links and MFA verification links, so it's important to keep it up to date.
- Go to My Account > Preferences.
- In the top section, click More and enter your email address.
- Click Update Account.

Notifications
| Setting | What it does |

| Message Notification | Emails you each morning if you have new Ecordia messages. Check your email address is correct at the top of the page. |
| Receive Task Notifications Emails | Emails you when you get a new task. |
| SMS Message Time | Chooses when you receive SMS alerts from Ecordia. |
| Delete Messages from Ecordia System | Ecordia sends automatic messages, for example when a task or scheduled activity is complete. This setting chooses when those messages are deleted automatically. Messages from other people aren't affected, so delete them yourself by clicking Delete on the message. |
Appearance
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Font | Changes the font used across Ecordia. The default is Verdana. You can also choose Arial, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Courier New or Comic Sans MS. |
| Text Size | Makes the text in Ecordia bigger or smaller. You can also zoom your browser in or out by pressing Ctrl and + or -, or Cmd and + or - on a Mac. |
| Text Colour | Sets your default text colour. |
| Portfolio Front Page Colour | Changes the colour of the portfolio front page. Other users won't see your choice. |
| Portfolio Style | Choose Full Colour (recommended), Coloured Keyed Tabs for partial colour, or Plain for no colour. Plain can help if your front page colour clashes with the standard design. |
| Navigation Menu Style | Choose Toolbar to show icons (recommended), or Tabs to show names only. |
Layout
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Basic Start Page | Replaces your dashboard with a simple task list. This isn't available to Candidates, Delegates or Independent Assessors. |
| Float Buttons on Evidence Page (recommended) | Keeps the evidence page buttons on screen, so you don't have to scroll to the bottom to reach them. |
| Evidence Summary Style | Chooses how evidence summary pages are displayed by default. |
| Scroll Units | Turns scrolling of the selected units list on the Portfolio Front Page on or off. |
| RSS URL | Shows a news feed in Ecordia. The default is BBC Education news, but you can paste in the web address of any RSS news feed you prefer. |
Changing another user's preferences
For administrators.
You can update another user's preferences for them, for example to correct their email address:
- Go to the Users tab and search for the user.
- Click View next to their name.
- Click Preferences at the bottom of the screen.
- Change the settings you need.
- Click Update Account.
