Summative Internal Quality Assurance

These instructions detail the steps to follow when performing Internal Verification (IQA) on a completed Unit

1. Select the Unit to be Internally Verified.

Units which are ready for IQA can be accessed from:
● The Primary IQA’s Task List entitled "
Unit Completion Declaration"
● The Candidate’s Portfolio Front Page by selecting a completed Unit which is marked as "Not confirmed, Internal Verifier Confirmation held by…."
(This can be found by hovering the mouse over the pen icon next to the Unit No.)

2. The Unit Assessment and Verification Declaration must be confirmed by both Assessor and Candidate before the IQA can access the 'Confirm'
button. However, confirmation can be blocked if Evidence linked to the Unit has outstanding actions from a previous IQA and will appear in the
IQA’s start page as "Last IQA Disagreement" and must be IQA’d again with a positive outcome. To view the Evidence which is linked to the Unit click the 'Evidence Summary' button at the bottom of the page.

You can navigate back to the Evidence Summary page by clicking the "Evidence Summary" tab located under your "Dashboard/Start" tab at the top of the page. This link will remain available until you click on one of the Portfolio tabs on the right.

3. The system will then display all the elements and unit level knowledge contained within the Unit. Click the elements or knowledge to view the
linked Evidence.

4. The system will now display the Evidence items which relate to the selected element or knowledge and the ticks show the standards the Evidence
has been judged against. The 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons in the top right of the page can be used to navigate to the next element.

5. Click on the Evidence you wish to view. You will now be viewing the Evidence, and on this page you can also read the Primary Assessor Feedback
,
and Second-line Assessment / Previous IQA feedback
.

The Plan can be viewed by clicking the 'Show Plan' button at the bottom of the page.  The 'Go to Plan'
button will navigate you to the Plan on a new page, away from the Evidence.

6. To provide formative feedback (giving feedback to the Assessor on a specific item of Evidence) use the 'Verify' button. The Evidence status will
now be "Verifying", and you will now be the holder of the Evidence. Use the 'Prepare Feedback' button to enable you to type your feedback.

7. Use the fields on the screen to indicate your IQA decision and write feedback. Below the feedback box will be a list of all the standards that the
item of Evidence has been judged against. Tick the standards you sampled if necessary, then click 'Save Feedback and Close'.

8. To send the IQA feedback to the Assessor, click the 'Finish Verification' button. The Assessor will now be alerted to the feedback to accept. If
you disagreed with the assessment decision the Evidence status will move to the "Assessing" stage so the Assessor can address the feedback.

9.When you are satisfied a Unit is complete, go to the Unit Summary page by clicking on the pen icon of the relevant Unit, and click 'Confirm' and The unit will now automatically appear as green on IQA Sampling Plan. Use the 'Actions Required' button if you want the Assessor to make any changes to the Evidence Links for the Unit you've sampled, because this will send the Unit back to the Assessor for confirmation again once any action has been taken.

Note: Once a Unit is confirmed as complete by the Assessor, no links can be modified or any more Evidence be linked to the Unit. The IQA must use the 'Actions Required' button if they require the Assessor to change the Evidence.
